It seems as though I am being forced to learn that I am indeed, not 18 anymore. While 34 is not an age that I feel 'old' at, I definitely am being forced to listen to my body. Who knew all that stuff that they were talking about when they said 'posture' and 'self care' was real?
I've done some researching in effort to try and help my neck and be as educated as possible for my doctor's visit. A cervical injury is very likely since my other symptoms (not really able to locate the pain to a specific point, pain in my neck, shoulder, outer shoulder and sometimes to my elbow, and my personal favorite: foot dragging. That's right, every now and then I seem to drag my foot unannounced, nearly tripping myself. I feel very strange trying to actively think about posture and walking and picking up my feet when these are supposed to be involuntary processes)
Thankfully, I believe in holistic medicine (another thing that I could kick myself for, but its so not helpful, is not being as strict on my diet as I used to be. I'm soooo back on that band wagon now. Especially with the horror of wearing a size 16 dress for my wedding.... probably next Sunday.) But, there's no point in thrashing myself when I really have to pay such close attention to taking care of myself. I've been blessed before to have healing holistically, I plan on taking that initiative again.
So, full body cleansing, back to the strict vegan diet, and very careful posture.
Thank God I took those bellydancing classes and learned how to exercise by isolating. I can isolate my head and shoulders while working out most of my mid torso and legs. I don't know how I'll do with the pilates, but we'll see what I'm able to do. I wonder if it burns calories changing your posture, I can feel the burn.....
Posted by hawkie at July 8, 2007 06:55 PMPilates was once the one excercise that I did that actually made me break a sweat. Unfortunately, I didn't keep up with it. There were times when I'd be weightlifting the past few quarters and I'd not break a sweat. Right now, Curves is surprising me with the breaking sweat thing. I've been gross and sweaty every time now and I love it.
AND, as for the size thing, at least it's not a 26, Mrs. Venus.
BTW, you can borrow belly dancing excerices tapes at the library. ;)
