I am so friggin daft!
Talk about one of life's most embarrassing moments *eye roll*. I'm sitting with friends in one of my favorite sports bars and we're chatting over drinks and appetizers when I happen to look over my friend's shoulder and notice this guy who looks alot like my uncle Russ. Granted he was a few tables away and the room was dim but god damn I was sure it was him! When the waitress brought me my drink tab I told her to deliver it to the guy 3 tables over (who I really thought was Russ) with a message that it was from me with my love and affection (she was really young and didn't ask questions). I could see the guy look over at me with confusion on his face claiming he had no idea who I was. I'm watching all this take place thinking HOLY SHIT! what if I'd made a terrible mistake! The poor waitress came back over to me with this look on her face like I was pulling her chain and trying to get her into trouble and handed me my tab. My friends started laughing so hard I thought for sure they were going to escort us out of the bar. Found out the mystery guy's name was Randel (not Russ) and he was from somewhere in Michigan. He'd come from playing a round of golf at Whistling Straits in Kohler (site of this year's US Senior Open) and had stopped for a bite to eat on his way through town. I apologized for the case of mistaken identity and offered to pay his tab but he was very gracious about everything and said it wasn't necessary, he'd had a good laugh over it. Talk about embarrassing! Lesson learned... never send your tab to another table period!

It's a scary world we live in
In the past I've tried to ignore the fact that we live in a scary world where crazy people want to hurt innocent people. The bombing that recently took place at Glasgow's airport reinforced this for me. Sure I'm not naive I know terrible things have happened before... I remember 911. But I've never been to New York so it was hard for me to fathom the death and destruction that took place when the World Trade Center was destroyed. I have flown from Glasgow's airport however and it scares the bejeezes out of me that it has now become a target for terrorism! Will I ever feel completely safe again? Will my children have to go through life wondering 'what if'? We live in a scary world... be careful my friend.
