The Bimboes Next Door

Or is it Bimbos? Whatever.

It’s not been a secret that I liked watching The Girls Next Door. When the show initially started, just based on the commercials, I think I might have rolled my eyes so hard they rolled to the back of my head. I mean, sure it might have been easy to lump them all into the dumb blonde bimbo category but Holly, Bridget, and Kendra won me over in 2 episodes.

Holly is a smart cookie. She knew what she wanted, she knew how to play Hef to get what she wanted, and she did it without being manipulative and mean. I also think part of me loved her because she was a great party planner and I love party planning as well.

Bridget is my favorite. She wasn’t stick thin, she had a Bachelor’s degree and was studying for her Master’s, and she had a goal beyond being a Girlfriend and possible Wife (although, that could be because she was already married, but that’s a whole other tabloid headline).

Kendra, well. Let’s not be mean, but she wasn’t the brightest star in the sky, but then again, she was only 18 so she didn’t have the life experience that Holly or Bridget had. But she was balanced out by the other 2 girls, so it all worked.

So, imagine how shocked and saddened I was when I heard/saw that the 3 ladies were moving out and on with their lives. I got why Bridget was going. She had her degree, she got a great gig with the Travel Channel and with one of those radio companies (XM? Sirrius?), and it was time to move on. But Holly and Kendra? What?! I thought for sure Holly was going to hang on until Hef died. But I guess she wanted a baby and a husband and he wasn’t going to give her either so she split. Of course, she split for Chris Angel so I have no idea what the hell that was about. And I figured Kendra would stay on the gravy train as long as possible, but I guess she wanted a guy who could keep up with her.

Now, E! knows a cash cow when it moos and The Girls Next Door brings all the boys to the yard, as it were, so they just replaced 3 blondes with another 3 blondes. Oh, but E! You did me wrong. Granted, I was predisposed to dislike these new Girlfriends but oh my god, how I LOATHE these girls!!!!! LOATHE! THEM! Well, I’m sort of okay with Krystal (I think the spelling of her name is pretentious but I blame her parents, not her, for that) but those twins? They make Kendra look like a freaking MENSA candidate!!! I’ve watched 4 episodes and I just can’t watch anymore. I would chalk up their stupidty to their age because they’re young but they’re clueless about stuff that’s going on right now that people their age should know (and I’m talking pop culture stuff, not books or anything that might require them to strain a brain cell).

And I think E! realized that maybe the new Girlfriends aren’t cutting it because they keep bringing back Holly, Bridget, and Kendra, which just further serves to show how vapid and dimwitted the new Girlfriends are.

Yeah, that’s coming off the pre-set DVR list.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Started feeling not so hot on Thursday morning. Went to breakfast with Nathan and Eric (Natey’s roommate) before going to see Ninja Assassin. After the movie, I came home and took a nap. Then I drove to the Daily Grill to meet Nathan, Ron, and Susan for dinner. After dinner, I came home and watched tv until bedtime.

Friday, I wasn’t feeling so hot so I just stayed home and rested all day.

Saturday I trekked to Thousand Oaks to visit a friend who had foot surgery and to watch Xanadu. We ate nachos, watched the movie, sat around and talked, then watched the USC/UCLA game. After the game, I drove home and hit the hay.

Today, I’ve done nothing but watch tv and sleep because I’m still not feeling 100%.

Trailers I Saw #9065

Trailers I saw when I went to go see 2012 and Ninja Assassin.

Salt. I’ll see it but I’ll wait for DVD.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Why exactly does the main character have to have an English accent? Does he have one in the game?
The Wolfman. Nathan and I actually saw 2 different trailers for this. The first trailer was better, in my opinion, because you didn’t know who the Wolfman was and you weren’t sure who Anthony Hopkins was. This trailer kind of lays it all out there for you.
Greenberg. Meh. I’ll skip this one.
The Book of Eli. Looks intriguing.
Kick Ass. Looks fun but I’m not sold on the name of the movie.

Happy Thanksgiving

I am so hungry right now. A few of my neighbors are cooking Thanksgiving dinner and I can smell the turkeys. What I really smell is butter. Mmmm…butter.

I’ll be heading out to dinner with Nathan and some other friends later tonight but now I’m going to go nap.

10 Things For Which You Are Thankful

I can never come up with a full 10.

1. That I have a job (especially in this economy).
2. That I have a car that runs.
3. That I am in relatively good health.
4. That I have family who loves me.
5. That I have a dog who loves me.
6. That I have friends who love me.

Obligatory #8

I keep thinking this is a full work week, so I keep thinking that I can’t do anything until Saturday. But Thursday day is movies with Nathan to see Ninja Assassin and that night is dinner at Daily Grill. Oddly enough, I do have plans for Saturday too. Yet nothing for Friday. I, however, am not going shopping on Friday. That’s just crazy talk.

The Sunday Post

Nothing to report. I’m trying to get through 3 weeks worth of GH episodes. It’s torture.
