Happy Halloween

Hi there.

Did you miss me?

I know. I haven’t blogged much. In my mind, I keep coming up with these great entries, full of witty and insightful prose, but then when I sit down to put thought to blog entry, it all leaves my mind. I don’t know what that’s about. However, I’ve decided that I’m going to try to blog more, even if it’s something stupid. You know about NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)? Well, I’m going to try to put an entry on my blog about something every day for the month of November. We’ll see how that goes.

So let me catch you up on what’s going on in the life of Xinh thus far.

  • I caught a cold on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather on Tuesday went from pretty decent at lunch time to EXTREMELY windy by the time I left to go home. I spent a good portion of my drive home, hoping that my little Honda wouldn’t get blown off the freeway. I made it home and was okay. Until about 3am, when I woke up to go to the bathroom and couldn’t swallow without feeling like I was eating glass. I immediately sent a text to my boss to let her know I wasn’t coming in to work. I spent all day Wednesday, either sleeping or drinking hot tea. Wednesday night, I still wasn’t feeling great and the sort throat was joined by sneezing and a runny nose so I stayed home from work on Thursday as well. By Friday morning, I wasn’t 100% but I was feeling much better so I went into work.
  • When I came home Tuesday night, my dvr wasn’t working. I wasn’t getting a clear feed on my tv. I attributed it to the wind. But then I noticed that some of the channels were coming through nice and clear. And I checked the dvr in the living room and all the channels were coming through just fine. I called Time Warner Cable, who tried to reauthorize the cable box, but it didn’t work so they told me to bring in it, which I had to wait to do until Saturday. Nathan drove me to the Time Warner Cable office and I exchanged my old box for a nice new one. The only problems? I have to reprogram my “favorite channels” so that I don’t have to flip through every station. I also have to reset all my series recordings. That’s going to be a pain in the ass because, as we all know, I watch a lot of tv.
  • Speaking of television, I’ve decided to give up a couple of shows.
I didn’t even get started on Eastwick. I missed the first episode and never really wanted to see it so I didn’t even bother.
I’ve also given up on The Amazing Race. I’ll just wait until it gets down to the final 3 teams and see how it ends up.
I have Stargate: Universe on my living room dvr but I can’t seem to want to watch it. I don’t know if it’s because I didn’t really know too much about it going in or if I just can’t be enthused about having to learn all new characters.
I also stopped watching The Cleveland Show because it’s just not funny.
I’m still watching The Forgotten and NCIS: Los Angeles, but they’re both getting on my nerves (for different reasons). The Forgotten just makes me sad. I watch a lot of shows in which there are dead people but the shows that focus on the dead people and their lives are ones I can’t watch. Yes, there’s closure, but in the end, the people are still dead.
For NCIS: Los Angeles, there’s just so many things I don’t like about it. First, why LA? LA doesn’t have Navy or Marine bases. Yes, there’s a Weapons Station in Seal Beach, which is technically Los Angeles County, but that doesn’t warrant having a whole NCIS chain in Los Angeles. There are several Marine and Navy in Orange County and San Diego County; why not an NCIS show there? Next, what is up with that Edna MoleHettie character? Then there’s LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell. Not enjoying them. At all. Finally, why all the undercover work and secret building issues? Why are they housed in an old water building and acting all hush-hush? And how much undercover work could there be in a town with NO NAVY or MARINE BASES? Ugh.

Yeah, I think that’s about it. I’m off to watch USC vs. Oregon. Let’s hope we fare better this year than we did last year.
